Mushroom Crown

2025

Raffia Paper

Model: Nastumi

It is handwoven from sustainable paper raffia and crafted in Barcelona, inspired by the rich mushroom landscapes of Catalonia and by my hometown, Guizhou, China.
Born from the weaving traditions of the Mediterranean and Iberian Peninsulas, it blends structure and softness the way mushrooms mix magic and mystery. It is soft, flexible, and almost weightless. You might forget you are wearing it until someone asks where you found it.

After losing my dearest material supplier because of the tariff, I had to find a solution for this series. Now, there is only single-color raffia paper in the European market. However, it doesn't match the existing Medium model. Considering the safety of the supply chain, I chose only black and white for the large model. It shows the purely aesthetic of structure. It would be perfect for important events such as weddings.

These lovely babies were born in Venice when I worked for Homo Faber Biennale in 2024. Before I was about to sleep, I weaved a little bit until it was born. There is an iconic poisonous mushroom called 见手青(Jian Shou Qing) in China. It is a wild blue-bruising mushroom that changes color when touched and cut. It tastes surprisingly good after you cook it appropriately, otherwise you need to go to the hospital.

As the material supplier closed their shop in Europe, it is a limited version depending on my material stock.

Inspired by the iconic red and white fly agaric mushroom during my business training with ECA. It fills the market gap that people could touch it and own it but survive.
